Below are several resources for finding companies and foundations whose interests match your research or programmatic activities:
Lists of Corporations and Foundations The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) actively manages relationships with many corporations and foundations in order to maximize funding opportunities for the University. Follow the links below for a list of corporations and foundations with links to their Web sites. Foundation Web sites usually describe funding interests, giving programs, and application procedures. Some corporate Web sites also include descriptions of the company’s giving priorities.
Please let us know of any existing relationships that you may have with any of these organizations. Contact CFR at 609.258.5965 or e-mail cfr@princeton.edu.
Foundation Directory Online CFR offers Princeton faculty and staff access from their on-campus computers to the Foundation Directory Online, a Web-based database created by The Foundation Center that helps grantseekers find funding prospects.
Users can look for information on thousands of grantmakers and their giving interests, using flexible and user-friendly search tools to create customized lists of potential foundation and corporate funders in just minutes. A “Guided Tour” of the service and “Search Tutorial” are available on the site. Please note that some of the available information comes from the grantmaking organizations’ annual IRS tax filings, and therefore may be over a year old.
Information on Smaller Grantmaking Organizations For basic information on smaller grantmaking organizations that are not included in the Foundation Directory Online, you may want to try GuideStar Basic (available at no charge to users; free registration is required).
Company and Industry Information Hoover’s, Inc. offers free information on more than 16 million companies and organizations through Hoover’s Online. Information may be retrieved by company name, industry type, or executive’s name, among other search criteria.
Funding Opportunities in the Sciences Princeton faculty and staff may also access Community of Science, courtesy of Princeton’s Office of Research and Project Administration. This database offers information on funding opportunities in the sciences and the humanities, the ability to locate experts and potential collaborators throughout the world, and the opportunity to showcase your own research among researchers and scholars from universities, nonprofits, and companies worldwide.
